Shayla is a second-year M.Arch student at Carnegie Mellon University and is using the scholarship to create new opportunities to fuel her education. 

After receiving the Spring 2023 award, Shayla replied: "Being a MAPS recipient means that I can make up for time that I lost during COVID. This scholarship helped me to be able to study abroad after I thought I lost that opportunity to the pandemic."
