Janessa is a first-year M.Arch student at Carnegie Mellon University and is using the scholarship to support her education. 

After receiving the Spring 2023 award, Janessa shared: "Having the honor of being a MAPS scholarship recipient shines a light on my efforts to make a difference in the field of architecture. I believe that through conscious design and research we can give voices to those that are not heard and uncover histories of those that have contributed to our built environment."
